Some jobs we quote. This one we gave. Before the first day of school, we cut Summit Christian School’s logo permanently into the concrete at their front entrance as a gift, so every student, parent, and teacher walks over it on the way in.

Why we did it

Summit is close to home for our family. We wanted to give something back that would still be there long after a fundraiser or a one-time donation is forgotten. Something the school would see every single morning.

A logo cut into the slab fit that perfectly. It doesn’t peel, fade, or get scuffed off like paint. It’s part of the building now.

Starting with a picture

We didn’t walk in with a sales pitch. We walked in with a picture: an AI rendering of their own entryway with the Summit logo engraved in the concrete, so they could see exactly what it would look like before we touched anything.

That’s all it took. Once the school saw their logo on their own front walk, they were all in.

Cut in on site, the day before school

We set our CNC up right over the entry slab, rail frame and all, and let it mill the logo straight from the school’s artwork. A vacuum stayed on the cutter the whole time to pull the dust off the cut. Then we filled the engraving in black so the mountain, the cross, and the lettering read crisp from the parking lot.

The timing was tight. We started it and finished it the day before school opened. When the doors opened the next morning, it was there waiting.

The reveal

The response was better than we hoped. Staff, parents, and kids stopped to look at it, and plenty of them stopped to take pictures. It left an impression on people, and it’s built to keep doing that for years. Thousands of first days, field trips, and graduations are going to walk across that logo.
